Return to Massaging - post Covid-19

The 11th of May has brought the loosening of the lockdown guidelines throughout France, with the Massage Me home region (Savoie) being declared one of the green departments.

We are super happy to see the easing of these controls and cautiously optimistic that the regulations in place have hopefully helped to control and beat this virus.

Business as Usual?

The 11th of May has marked the opening of beauty salons, hairdressers etc., but what does this mean for mobile and ‘at home’ practitioners?

In theory, yes, we can all begin to return to work BUT still maintaining the social distancing guidelines. It is therefore essential that we follow the correct health instructions and government guidelines.

Massage Me will be open for at-home wellness bookings from the 1st of June.

What does it mean?

As a mobile therapist would be entering your accommodation - either holiday or permanent home, the measures to be put into place need to be followed by both the practitioner and the client. The client would need to :

  • Tidy up their space

  • Clean and disinfect the space to be used for the treatment

  • The room/space must be ventilated by opening windows for at least 15 minutes

  • Other inhabitants of the accommodation (family/friends etc.) must not be allowed to access the space

  • Wear the correct PPE (personal protective equipment) before, during and after treatment

For their part, the practitioner must :

  • Provide and wear the correct PPE

  • Provide trash bags for disposing of waste products

  • A complete consultation including content in relation to Covid-19 i.e. signs of the illness etc

  • Disinfect products and equipment

    • The practitioner must carry out disinfection of the equipment on arrival and before departure, both times in front of the client.

The practitioner will inform the client of the guidelines they must follow and apply the correct health and safety practices. This will also be reiterated when the practitioner arrives at the client’s space.

The practitioner then has a separate list of guidelines to comply with, specific to the type of treatment being provided (e.g. massage/facial/physiotherapy etc.).
